International.  Veronika is a scene and I mean that in the best sense of the word.  Ascend the stairs, and you’re suddenly filled with a feeling that’s nothing less than electric. The music, the crowd, the nonstop party atmosphere radiating from the bar to every table.

The design is enticing – sky high ceilings, gorgeous cathedral windows, sunburst chandeliers.  Could the food possibly live up?

It can and it does.  I began full on Asian.  The kampachi and scallops flash marinated in citrus oil, with avocado, fresno and gochugara chili.  Sheer Japanese genius in texture and flavor.  Then tuna and uni tartare (big eye, blue fin, yellow fin, tea smoked tomatoes).  An unforgettable fin filled expedition is this.

Entrée engaged, I committed to the “Jagerschnitzel” aka pasture fed organic chicken with porcini, chanterelle and mushroom sauce.  The chicken not just thick but juicy, a magical ode to mushrooms.

Next, their lobster omelette (smoked arctic char, lemon sauce) plus frites.   I’ve had lobster and I’ve had eggs.  But never in the same dish.  The degree of seafood striking, every delicious bite fish infused.

With so much to finish, I asked to take some home.  All was whisked away, soon to return in this glossy, high end shopping bag.  Such a nice touch, with all the feels of a fabulous purchase.

Almost as fabulous as an unforgettable night at Veronika.
