Italian. At Florian Café, they offer individual as well as family style entrées. Based on the generosity of the single serving, I cannot begin to imagine the size of the other. Based on the taste, I am glad they have trouble distinguishing the difference. I sampled both the chicken parmigiana (burrata mozzarella) and red snapper livornese. The meat dish practically eclipsed the dinner plate, every bite as blissful as the one before it. The fish is just as brilliant, the braised tomato, olives and capers working in absolute harmony to ensure seafood perfection. If you’re willing to save some for home, there are countless lead ins to explore. The bruschetta sports goat cheese and tomato, an unusual and entirely addictive cheese choice. The short rib meatballs are bathed in Sunday gravy with which I was completely unfamiliar. Yet, based on the outrageousness of the flavor, is clearly the best gravy day of the week. I cannot stress enough the importance of leaving room for dessert. On this particular evening, there were made to order cannolis with chocolate chip ricotta and blueberry preserves. It is hard to envision a more perfect sentence than one that includes cannoli, blueberry and chocolate chip. I would have been more mournful as I finished, were I not in possession of the most anticipated doggie bag of the decade. For the next day (or three) yours will remind you why you were so very happy. And why you need to return pronto.
