American. Yeah, it’s a bar, but they feed you like a restaurant. I began with the incredible lobster tacos (house pico de gallo, avocado puree). They are huge. And crunchy – which also made them fun to eat. I next experienced the cheese quesadillas, no strangers to fabulousness. It was then on to the Love Combo: AKA the house sampler of wings, calamari, mozzarella sticks, potato tots and assorted dipping sauces. When you can make a tater tot sing, you have some serious skills. I hoped dessert would bring it, too, which it did in the form of a chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream sidekicks. They also have a separate room that features live music. And a backlit waterwall, cascading bubble thing that is hard to describe but hypnotic to watch. It all comes together to deliver just the right mood. But maybe that’s to be expected when your name is Lovecraft.
