American. For a good time, call Anthony. Not just any Anthony, but The Anthony, a new place on Bleecker, happiness guaranteed. There are lots of reasons this joint will make your night. For one, the food. Their French onion fondue comes with vegetable crudité and grilled bread. And a spoon. Because it’s essentially soup with compellingly dunkable sidekicks. You might also begin with the yellow fin tuna crudo (complete with avocado, sweet onions, cilantro salsa, plus lime). If you’re still feeling the fondue, the Maine lobster entrée brings it with cavatappi pasta, 3 cheese blend, and toasted old bay breadcrumbs. One bite and you will learn how hard it can be to contemplate putting down your fork. I was also very taken with their Colorado lamb chops, outrageously enhanced by the bacon-apple potato cake, smoky creamed kale and pomegranate glaze in its orbit. Sure, the meal was mesmerizing, but so was the service which could not have been friendlier or more engaging. And if you have a thing for the 50s and Motown, you’ll be grooving to an inspired collection of the best. You can count on being spoiled – by staff, meal and tunes alike. Expect nothing less of Anthony. The one and only.
